Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that contains numerous amenities on top of the casino, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
